§ 66-172. Classification.

  • In accordance with a comprehensive plan of the town and for the purposes of this article, streets are classified by function as follows:

    (1)

    Arterial streets. These are streets which serve primarily as major trafficways for travel between and through towns.

    (2)

    Collector streets. These are streets which serve as feeders to arterial streets, as collectors of traffic from minor streets and for circulation and access in commercial and industrial areas.

    (3)

    Minor streets. These are streets which are local streets used primarily for access to abutting residential, commercial or industrial properties.
